After consulting with family, friends, staff members, and supporters for the past six months, I have made my decision.
It is with great pleasure and pride that I announce my intent to seek a sixth term for the Office of the Sheriff. My goal is to continue to build upon the accomplishments this office has achieved over the past 19 years.
I have accomplished many goals as sheriff – all thanks to this community, supporters, public safety agencies, and staff. Some of those are:
• Upgraded security and safety measures at the courthouse • Implemented a body-worn camera program • Continued recruitment of qualified personnel • Established a Civil Disturbance Unit (CDU) • Created a Peer Support Team • Continued a constructive and productive working relationship with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies • Re-accredited for the seventh time by the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission (VLEPSC) • Established community outreach programs to serve seniors, people with disabilities, and to promote gun safety among others • Served as Chairman and member of the Prince William-Manassas Jail Board for the past 13 years • Published annual reports reflecting accurate statistical information on services provided to the community • Provided scholarships to over 100 students majoring in criminal justice.
I was first elected to the Office of Sheriff because of my experience, accomplishments, and leadership skills. Most importantly, I kept my pledge of transparency by running an open, and honest office while establishing credibility within the community. While we have accomplished many things, much remains to be done.
I look forward to working with professionals within the Sheriff’s Office and other public safety agencies to provide a service that exceeds the expectation of this community. As your sheriff, I will always focus on continuing to serve the people – not a political party.
Glen Hill Sheriff, Prince William County
